Jade : Jade is actually two different minerals referred to by the same name. It seems that for years two separate minerals were referred to and traded as jade because of their amazing similarities. By the time anyone realized they were dealing with two different gems, it was too late. Today, they are differentiated into jade classes, called jadeite and nephrite. Jasper : Jasper is a member of the quartz family. Its name comes from Greek "jaspis", a mythical spotted stone found in the head of an adder snake. Jasper is found in many colors and often named for its pattern, e.g. leopard skin jasper. It is one of the oldest known gemstones. Jig : A board with pegs in it that is useful for bending wire into specific shapes that can be replicated. They can be made out of wood, or configurable metal ones can be purchased.

| Jump Ring : Used to connect jewelry parts, like attaching a clasp to a necklace. Jump rings are a simple wire loop. To open them, push one end forward and one end back.
